AcuSystem Home Inspections Opens New Energy Division with Hero Teams
Valrico, Florida – June 12, 2019: AcuSystem Inspections has opened a new Energy Division, partnering with local military veterans and adults with autism to provide quality, two-man Hero Teams for their new division. AcuSystem will train and certify five new teams to conduct Blower Door Tests, Energy Audits, and HVAC Duct Leakage Testing. Their first Hero Team is already trained and performing Blower Door Tests for new construction homes.
Blower Door Testing is required on all new homes built after July 1, 2017. The test checks the structural balance of a home by accurately gauging the air flow through narrow cracks and seams, testing various critical points – especially around door frames. The test takes approximately 30 minutes once set-up is completed.
Acusystem Inspections will be adding Energy Audits and HVAC Duct Leakage Testing once new Hero Teams are trained. An Energy Audit can show where a home is wasting energy and is recommended for homeowners wanting to lower their energy bills and those interested in “green” upgrades to their home. HVAC Duct Leakage Testing will show where repairs or replacement is needed and confirm whether the air duct system is properly sealed and insulated.

- The statistics involving individuals with autism are surprising—and alarming. AcuSytem Inspections wants to change the way the world perceives autism, one Hero Team at a time.
- The CDC reports (2018) an estimated 1 in 59 children are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- 1 in 37 are boys
- 1 in 151 are girls
- In 2012, studies showed that 35% of adults aged 19-23 with autism did not have a job or did not received further education following high school (Shattuck et al., 2012).
- Only 10% of autistic adults receive employment support but 53% say they want it (Bancroft et al, 2012).
- When there is a lack of understanding about autism spectrum disorders, autistic individuals and their families are at a greater risk of being isolated by society and developing mental health problems (National Autistic Society).
- In 2014, only 60% of the 18,000 individuals with autism who used state-funded vocational rehabilitation programs received a job. Of those who got a job, 80% of them only worked part-time earning roughly $160 per week— well below the state poverty level (Autism Speaks).
- Almost 50% of 25-year-olds with autism have never had a job (Autism Speaks).
